OVERVIEW
This book is about the story and influence of Oshun across the Black Diaspora. The audience Iām creating this book for is made up of students of color. I want them to understand the strength of our ancestors and the power within her story as a deity. My overarching concept over the design of the book is to create small takeaways that are free of charge as an opportunity to inform and function as iconography with which students can pray. The book series is mainly meant to be broken into sections of continuous narrative within each piece. The first scroll is meant to explain her origins, the fold-out map is to show her influence across the African Diaspora, and the third is a candle that could be used as part of the ritual offering. The illustration the back of the zine could be used as a substitute for a shrine.
A brief blurb about her influence across the diaspora.
